New Year..... New Nudes !

Anyone that knows me personally, knows that I am a SUCKER for Nudes. Nude lips, nude shadows, nude polishes, you name it, I have it.  I thought it would be fun to make a list of some items ( some old staples and some new ) that are my MUST for 2014. 2. Eyes : Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette ($27) this collection of matte shades is a nude loves DREAM. My only wish was that there was more colors in this set besides 6.  Hoping Urban Decay releases a part 2 that offers more Mattes !! Smashbox Full Exposure Palette ($49) This is a DREAM this palette features 7 shimmering hues and 7 velvety matte counterparts. This set includes all you NEED for the season.  Browns, Blacks, Beiges, Golds and Silvers make up this Full Exposure palette. A oldie but goodies is the In the Buff Palette by Mally Beauty ($50 / QVC Sold out) -  This is a honorable mention. This collection of 11 colors really provides a nice range of browns / nudes.  
3. Holy Grail of obtaining the GLOW: NARS Illuminator in "Super Orgasm" ($30) - This gold in a bottle can be used on the face, neck, shoulders and decollete.  A MUST in your beauty kit!

Satins and Cashmeres : Zoya Fall 2013 Collections

Fall : Dark Eyes and Nude Lips. The return of tights ( patterned, glitter, textured), the interlude to Winter. Metallics are also welcomed , along with chains, leather, suede and thigh high boots.  Bold Dark brows are essential more than ever and the return of more straight hair styles ( less chance of humidity driven frizz), and my favorite of it all the constant implementation of BLACK clothing. These are all the things I love about the Fall season. What I love about Zoya is that this brand of polish continues to strive on the influence of Fashion on and off the runways.

On the eve of NYFW, I am really LOVING the Fall Collections "Cashmeres and Satins" ($8.00 each)  - Cashmeres are cream shades and Satins are metallics which includes a special edition gold sparkle top coat ( pictured, above).  Pictured above from left,  are Giovanna - jewel tones are so fun and festive : prelude to the holiday season. Pepper - every collection knows a deep red is essential. Maria-Luisa - like wearing those chunky gold chains on your nails - I'm in love! . Sailor - Deep navys are a MUST for the fall season. Hunter - deep green is the alternative to your typical navy or black / grey shade. Louise - a scrumptious chocolate brown, I am so excited to wear this and post a pic of it.  Flynn - reminds me of the perfect nude lipstick , Claudine - like wearing leather on your nails - one of the sexier shades from the collection.

Patriotic Chic without breaking the bank : All the tools you need for 4th of July ( $25 or less !! )

The most PATRIOTIC day of the year .... The Fourth of July !  This year I say keep it minimal yet fabulous with these key products. This is a chic approach , which is being a subtle patriot , not "cheesy" with literal stars and stripes like the masses.

Eyes -  dab a bit of Lightwand Eye Brightener | Mally Beauty ($25) in the inner corners of the eyes (with the sponge applicator) , also line the bottom waterline as well.  This will give your eyes a VERY bright luminous appearance, and no one would know whether you've missed any sleep or not. You could complete the look with Mascara , but thats about it -  we're keeping things very minimal - less is more.

Lips - no other color would be appropriate than RED!! Make a bold statement ( yes I am saying Bold although I made claims to this look being minimal) with a shiny, cherry red lip.  My choice for this look is Reflection High Shine Lipgloss in "Firecracker" ( isn't the name perfect for the occasion? -)  | Smashbox Cosmetics ($19) .  You can NEVER go wrong with a sexy red lip!

Nails - your hands are one of the most looked at parts on your body -  believe it or not!  Stand out against the crowd with blue shimmering textured nails.  Pixie Dust in "Liberty" ( yet another ironic name) | Zoya  ($9) is a conversation starter !  I've had this on my nails as well ( see above photo) , and its just pure nail bliss !!! This is currently one of my favorite Pixie Dust shades, and it will be yours too!

Effortless Summer Beauty .. From Start to Finish !

Flawless Complexion and Fuchsia Lips ! 

I decided to go through a fast forward approach to looking your absolute best this summer.  Keeping it simple - a bold lip and a flawless complexion ... nothing MORE, nothing LESS!
Although the impending Summer season is here and perhaps products we use may change due to the heat, one thing that remains the same is "technique" -  Rickycare 3D Blenders (Rickys NYC Stores , Rickysnyc.com / $8.00 each ) aid in flawless application . No matter the season ( Summer , Spring , Fall or Winter) , we STILL have to make sure we BLEND! BLEND! BLEND!  These application sponges are super soft and durable and just as great to use as more pricier versions on the market right now.  You can buy all three Blenders for the price of 1 ! I live for a bargain .  I like to use the smaller blender sponge for concealer, the dual tip as well as the original sponge shape for foundation / CC Creams.  The dual tip is great  for when you want to get in hard to reach corners like the eyes / nose , etc..

Speaking of CC Creams. I am loving the new CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 40 in Dark (Pür Minerals / $38.00). The texture of this CC Cream has like a "whipped" feeling ( in my opinion) , and it also goes on like a full coverage foundation.  You really can wear this alone without traditional foundation / powder.  My favorite aspect about this CC Cream is the SPF 40 , no other CC or BB Cream has this high a level of Sun Protection - it really sets this product apart. I just dab a little on my 3D Blender sponge and blend away. As displayed in the photos above ( taken with my phone , sorry if they're not that clear) -  flawless finish!!

Summer is about BRIGHT colors ! From clothing , decor to makeup.. Bright lips are the perfect way to stay "on trend".  For lips that scream "Hot Pink Paradise" like my lips above,  Makeup Artist Mally Roncal suggest The Perfect Bright Lip Kit in  Frisky Fuschia (Mallybeauty.com / $26) . Summer Beauty Routine .. Fabulous finds for $56 or less !

Summer is "unofficially" here with Memorial Day behind us (its now OKAY to wear White ,not that I ever followed that rule..) , and now its totally crucial to gear up and prep our bodies for the warmer months.  I decided to list some of my current favorite suggestions for Summer to help you get beach ready and maintain and ENHANCE your lustrous summer glow. I have separated these items in four groups, which you can read more about below. 

1. HYDRATE  - H2o is VITAL ! Especially in the summer , we need to stay hydrated at all times,  not only does it improve our skins appearance it helps us stay fit.  I just love the  AQUA VESSEL INSULATED FILTRATION BOTTLE ( Eco Vessel /$39.95) . This magic product gives you a matte finish while keeping you fresh-faced , never the dry ashy look that you get with "translucent powders".  If you never used this item, TRUST me it will change your life.  You will be amazed at your poreless appearance.  We still want to have a glow about us , and shine bright like a diamond ( in a sexy way) , highlighter is the best way to go.  I absolutely love Mally Beauty Luxury Size Effortless Airbrush Highlighter ($45) !  I was first introduced to this pot of gold in the Effortless Airbrush Highligher and Blush Duo , and I fell in LOVE with the highlighter - hardly ever using the blush color but always incorporating the highlighter in my makeup routines.  If you are a contour girl, this highlighter will become your BEST FRIEND.  Highlighters are tricky for me as I am on the darker skin tone spectrum and this gives me a golden glow without the disco glitter effect.  Imagine how you will look once you've gotten your summer color ( natural or faux) , and you've lightly dusted this highlighter along the bridge of your nose and other key areas. 
4. WHITE HAUTE NAILS - I've always thought that white nails were the epitome of chic. White nails stand out even more with a tan. I love Zoya Nail Lacquer in "Purity" ( $8) , it is a beautiful stark- white shade which never goes out of style.  INSIDER PRO MANICURE TIP: For a slender looking nail, manicurist Sunshine Outing suggests not covering all the way to the sides as way to create nails that look slender and sleek.

I just love  these Tarte Cosmetics LipSurgence™  Lip Lusters and Lip Tints ($24) .  Above,  you will find my palette for the summer season -  which is quickly approaching!!!  My absolute favorites are "Spirited" - which is a nice bright orange shade ( I see a lot of lines are incorporating an Orange shade --- Its the unspoken "it color") , "Adored" - its such a pretty pink! Nudes hold a special place in my heart , and "Buff" is a flirty luster. Honorable mentions - which will also be in rotation are "Moody" - I love the deep wine shades , even if its not the Winter/Fall ,  Im all about breaking the rules.  "Amused" (is actually in the hot pink family, but for or some reason looks a bit like a red in these photos) ,  which leaves a flushed tint on the lips.

Emerald City : My favorite picks for the Pantone Color of the Year

Mally Beauty City Chick Smokey Eye Kit in "Central Park" and Tarte Cosmetics skinny smolderEYES™ Amazonian clay waterproof liner in "Emerald" was used in the eyelooks above. 

Emerald : The official color of 2013 as declared by Pantone. Since January, I have been looking for beauty items to incorporate in my beauty regime. A BIG fan of Mally Beauty,Tarte Cosmetics and ZOYA Nail Lacquer so it was only natural that I would choose favorites from these brands.
For eyes : I did one look solely in Tarte Cosmetics skinny smolderEYES™ Amazonian clay waterproof liner in "Emerald"  ( pictured , bottom left) , and I just love the texture and high pigment of this pencil.  If you are not big on the whole eyeshadow application process, this pencil is all YOU NEED! I really love how the green pops!  An added bonus,  in my makeup exploits, I have discovered that the Amazonian Clay waterproof eyeliner in "Brown" works GREAT on the brows - ( pictured, in all the photos above - currently discontinued , but the best possible match is the skinny smolderEYES in "Moonstone Brown" or the Amazonian Clay Waterproof liner with double-ended brush - you have to be a bit advanced in the Brow Department to maneuver this brush to create a Brow - its not hard to become a Pro !) .  I am just not sure if that shade is still available , I hope so ! My full on EMERALD EYE in all of the pictures above minus the close up eye shot , is a mix-up of brands and greens  I used Mally Beauty City Chick Smokey Eye Kit in "Central Park" on the entire eyelid ( all components of the kit - base, lid, highlight and crease) , and topped it off with the skinny smolderEYES in jade around the eyes ( upper and lower lash line - with a bit of smudging with the sponge tip). I made a trip to Sephora the day I wore this look , and I got so much compliments in store and just throughout the entire day.  This is the perfect pairing of Emerald Green shades and it really compliments dark skin ( as I am in the darker skin range).  You can finish the eye look with Mally Beauty Ginormous Mascara in "Black" - it really gives the appearance of  falsies ( as you can see in the pictures above).  Another honorable mention for this look -  Tarte Cosmetics BB tinted treatment 12-hour primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen , it gives a flawless light finish to the skin.

Zoya Nail Lacquer in LOGAN

For Nails:  Zoya Nail Lacquer in "LOGAN" , part of the Holiday 2012 Collection, this electric, sparkly , metallic green shade is just fun! Worn alone or as a top coat on another shade there is a lot of possibilities for this color!

These are my current "Emerald" favorites, but its only the third month in the year, so I will be adding more to the list!

Zoya Lovely Collection 

 Groundhog day is behind us , and its pretty clear that SPRING is on its way!!!! What better way to look forward to the Spring Flowers then to choose one of these yummy candy-colored shades from Zoya's LOVELY Spring 2013 collection!  I love every shade in this 6-Piece collection - I can not even name a favorite at this point. This color story just makes me think about Easter, Flowers, and Pastel colored treats! I've been a Zoya fan for years, and its mostly due to their natural nail lacquer standards, amazing fun shades, and most important - lasting power.  I cannot wait to get my hands on the new Matte Textured Sparkling PIXIE DUST collection ... Stay tuned !!!
