Big Waves for Badgley Mischka

Backstage at Fall 2008 Preview of Badgley Mischka's collection to benefit The Lying in Hospital/NY Presbyterian Hospital Tim Rogers, Editorial Stylist for Charles Worthington London and his team were busy styling tresses for the runway.
Tim Rogers ( pictured above) , Tim began by blowing out the hair with a big, round brush, giving the hair lift. He then sectioned the hair off, spritzing each section with Charles Worthington London Big Waves Texturizing Definition Spray to create smooth, shiny, long lasting waves. He coiled each section around a medium sized barreled curling iron and then pinned each curl in place, holding the formation.

I just love this models hair ( pictured, above) !!!! It's just so pretty and you can see that the hair will have a lot of movement and body.

You can use TS-2 Groove (pictured above, $150.00) to re-create that look ( it's rounded shape makes GREAT curls , along with Charles Worthington BIG WAVES Collection ( pictured below - Drugstores, $6 each ) . The best part of the BIG WAVES collection, is that it's affordable, and that you don't neccesarily need to use heat appliances with these products.

Couture For Your Fingertips

You've got to give it up to Ji Baek and Rescue Beauty Lounge Nail Polish ( pictured above, $18 each) !!!! These colors are like couture for your fingertips !! ( I've been calling this line that before I found out they're inspirations came straight from the RUNWAY !!!! ( Muses pictured at very top ) Recycle ( Third Row, Center) - is so innovative ! This color needs to win a award. It plays on the dark color trend.. but it's nobody's brown or black! I just love it.. It can be a nice twist to an ultra glam outfit, or a nice addition to a casual pair of ripped jeans and tee.

Summer Warm-Up

Sixteen Candles..

Tia Williams has done it again with Sixteen Candles the sequel to her novel it CHICKS . It's the perfect gift for your little sister, or for yourself if you want to re-live your High School years plus a few added touches of glitz and glamour - ( girls in my school definitely were not wearing the things some of these characters were wearing back in 2000 , when I was 16 !!!!! ).

Get Carrie-D Away with Sexy Waves

With the Sex and The City movie coming up.. We all have Carrie - Fever! ( well at least I do !) and what better way to celebrate "The SEX" than to sport some Carrie Bradshaw-esque waves. Who better to get tips from on how to obtain the Sexy Waves than the Curly Hair Expert, OUIDAD ... Enjoy !!!!

1. After shampooing and conditioning your hair, leave about 25% of the conditioner in your hair. Apply styling lotion in fatter sections (about 2 inches wide and 2 inches thick) so you are able to create bigger waves, and perform the Ouidad Rake & Shake method.

2. Be sure to apply the styling lotion evenly working your way all the way up to the top of the head.

3. When you get to the top, create a side part.

4. Next, take the side part section, apply styling lotion and create a wave pattern with the Ouidad Rake & Shake method.

5. Be careful not to rake too much or you will create too much bounce.

6. Allow hair to set. Once it is set, gently diffuse the hair, without placing hair in the diffuser, or again you will be creating too much bounce.

7. Once hair is completely dry, apply a pomade such as Ouidad Clear Control Pomade ( pictured left , $26) by rubbing your palms together, pulling hair into a mock ponytail and running your hands through. For the final touch, add a dollop of pomade at the top of the head to smooth any flyaways.

8. Get ready to turn heads with your sexy ‘do!

Summer Ready Feet !!!

I was able to come across some great tips on how to get fabulous feet for Summer from Summer Soles'® spokesperson Dr. Adriana Karpati (http://www.summersoles.com/)

Here is what she had to say :
" Exfoliation of dead skin and getting rid of calluses of winter: "Cell turnover occurs constantly in the body to produce new skin cells. These new cells are made in the deeper layers of our skin. The process of 'pushing' the new skin to the surface causes the older skin to exfoliate. With the dryness of our feet during the winter, sometimes this shedding process just does not happen quick enough! Nothing better than a salt-based foot scrub by FarmHouse Fresh and a good old-fashioned pumice stone to do the trick! No better place to exfoliate than in the shower!," Dr. Karpati explains.

- Cleaning the nails: "We tend to ignore the grime that builds up under the nail when toe toes are cold as we try to keep them bundled up. Fungus can work its way under the nail and onto the nail bed giving you nail fungus! Keeping the nails clean is essential in overall foot health. In cleaning under the nail, always remember to use the clean pointed end of a cuticle stick. Gently working out the debris and follow this by scrubbing under the nails with a sudsy nailbrush. Use the blunt end of the cuticle stick covered with a thin towel to massage the cuticle down. Dry them well, apply cuticle oil all over the nail. Voila! You'll have shiny, white and healthy looking nails!"


- Keeping odor away and moisture away with preventative measures. "In warm weather, keep foot perspiration from lingering on shoes and causing odor with sandal liners made by Fragrant Footings™ by Summer Soles®. - Getting rid of fungal infections. "Dermatophytes is a general term being used to represent a group of fungi that most commonly cause fungal skin infections. With in that group, 'tinea pedis' is responsible for Athlete's foot and 'trichophyton rubrum' is responsible for most of the nail fungus (aka onychomycosis). There is fungus "amongus"-and once that fungus takes hold, it feeds off of the dead skin cells. In Athletes foot, this leads to irritation of the skin, more scratching and more shedding! In fungal nails, the build up of fungus and debris under the nail causes nail discoloration, thickening and in some cases, loosening of the nail from the underlying nailbed. Treat Athlete's foot with the OTC Lamisil cream for one full month and wear protective shoe gear around those pools, gyms and locker rooms, and dry feet well after bathing and to spray your shoes/sandal with an anti-fungal spray regularly to avoid a recurrence. However, nail fungus is much more difficult to get rid of. The most effective way to treat nail fungus is with a prescriptive oral anti-fungal. Most of the topical over the counter remedies you hear can improve the appearance of the nail, but will not kill the fungus under the nail, so spend your money wisely towards a prescription written by your podiatrist!," she says.

- Moisturizing dry feet. "Winter can sap away the moisture from your feet and not just because of the weather. We all tend to take long hot baths and showers during those winter months. Doing so will sap the moisture right out of your skin. Taking a short warm bathcan really help to retain your skin's moisture. For cleaning feet, a quick once over with a wash cloth is enough to do the trick and keep them soft! Applying a heavy moisturizing cream (Eucerin is good), not a thin lotion, to allow for absorption," she comments.

- Getting a beautiful, but safe pedicure. "You want to put your best foot forward for spring and summer with the most colorful array of nails, but beware of unsterilized equipment and bacteria that can lead to fungal infections, Athlete's foot, and in the worst cases, skin diseases. I always advise the following:Find a salon that does not have jet tubs as part of the pedicure pampering. Those harbor a bacteria colony deeply rooted in the pipes that cannot be thoroughly cleansed. Stick to places with the no nonsense, easy to clean basin where bacteria cannot hide. Bring your own flip flops to take you from the chair to the driers. Make sure the instruments being used on you come out of a sterile pack."
