B.A.G.S (Beauty and Grooming Safe-Space) Presents : #WCW Womens Cosmetic-Crush Wednesday 2-17-21

Last night we had a great chat once again and the main focus I want to recap on this week was moisturizers .  We spoke about how to keep our skin hydrated , and how to create a luminous base to our makeup looks. There was two moisturizers that I highly recommended.  Both I've used on countless jobs and I also have in my personal collection at home.  A perfect makeup application starts with a great base, and hydrated skin is key. 

First up is the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Oil Free  Moisturizer.  This is such a good moisturizer its so hydrating and nourishing and so many of my clients would as what was I using on them. Its lightweight, and it has Hyaluronic Acid as a component to really quench your skins thirst.  You just have to see for your self. It pairs nicely with serums.  

Second on my list is the Tarte Cosmetics Drink of H20 Hydrating Boost Moisturizer . This is a Cosmetic-Crush that I am bringing back from the past.  I first used this back in 2016 and fell in love with the gel formula.  This is a vegan moisturizer that is water - based and lightweight , it plumps up the skins appearance and works well as a makeup base. This also includes the super ingredients Hylauronic Acid and Squalane.

B.A.G.S (Beauty and Grooming Safe-Space ) Presents #MCM Mens Grooming 2-15-21

Yesterday we had another great #MCM : Mens Grooming Chat on Clubhouse. 

This week  I covered the main things you would need in your kit if you are just starting out doing mens grooming.  Most of these items ( or something else comparable may very well already exist in your kit. So since I was asked by an Artist who further wants to explore this world , I figure I devote the entire recap to this topic only. 

Skincare -  You would definitely need an exfoliating toner ,  for example like the Bevel Skin Exfoliating Toner as a prep.  It will help lightly exfoliate the skin to make a perfect base.  This toner is great for men to keep in their routine as it helps with shaving bumps and dark marks. 

Complexion - Next, we want to focus on a matte moisturizer , because we do NOT want any shine.  If the man is bald we will make sure to not neglect this part of his head.  Following moisturizer , we use a matte primer.  Two great options are the moisturizer from Bioderma , and the Step 1 matte primer from Makeup Forever . 

Not shown, but we want to color correct / spot conceal / brighten up dark circles with concealer. Theres so many choices to choose from - use what you already have.  What I will say though is choose a concealer that dries down matte and is medium to full coverage .  Be very sparse with application - because the whole point in Mens Grooming to look like he hasn't done anything , yet very refreshed and awake. 

We want to use a matte setting powder to set concealer and to take away any additional shine on the face or ( bald head ).  Makeup Forever Super Matte powder is a favorite I've used in the past.  It comes in various shades . 

Brows - A brow gel to mold brows and also add some volume is your best bet.  If he has great full brows you only need to go in with clear brow gel, if he has some gaps you want to fill in - lightly fill in with a pencil.  The main secret weapon will be a tinted brow gel.  Most times you may only need to use this to get the job done .  A great option I use on myself and clients is the Hourglass Arch Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel. 

Lips -  In the past, I would use a lip balm for Men , there's so many options.  In the past two years I started using Bite Beauty's Agave + Night Therapy on everyone as a lip base / prep.  I really love how this instantly revitalizes your lips.  This product does have a bit of a shine to it , so make sure you blot accordingly.  * Bonus - you might want to keep their lip scrub in your kit with you in case your client / model has severely dry or chapped lips.

Its Valentine's Day Weekend ! We met up again this past Wednesday on Clubhouse for my weekly chat : "#WCW Womens Cosmetic-Crush Wednesday V-Day Edition " . This week was really fun hearing about all the girls plans .  Whether it was a girls "Galentines Day" night in , or a date night with their love , or a night in of self-care it all just sounds lovely.  

If I have learned anything this past year , its to take the time to be kind to myself and love and appreciate those close to me .  So however you decide to spend the most romantic day of the year , just keep those two things in mind.  

Let's get to the "Cosmetic - Crushes " .....

We spoke about self - care and skin love .  Laneige Hydration to Go kit is perfect for someone who wants an introduction into K-Beauty. You're getting a sample of a few key components without breaking the bank on one product.  Faded by Mytopicals and Alpha Arbutin Serum by The inkey List are great recommendations for Hyperpigmentation and Dark Marks.  Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is not only good for bed time its amazing for all day wear.  You get an amazing glossy sheen to your lips and it wears for many hours.  Its a staple in my personal collection as well as my professional kit.  Love it as a makeup lip prep.  This cute duo by Sephora is the perfect "treat yourself" set . Another notable mention are the Hyaluronic Hydro Gel Masks by Oh K! Beauty , perfect for a couples night in of mask-ing ( as I suggested earlier this week) .  

Now for the girls who are showing out this weekend - whether its at home or a romantic dinner for two, girls glam night in ( out) , or just cause...  Lets discuss this weeks top favorites . 

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara -  This Mascara ( Kinda) lives up to its name.  It's just that good.  Instant lash action , volume and thickness . Perfect to use on its own or with a few lash extension strips ( my favorite way to use it ).  Next on the list is a SUPER STEAL this product is very inexpensive , and I think everyone should purchase to be honest .  Elf Cosmetics Brow Gel / Mascara wand has been a favorite of mines for years.  I use this on clients and on myself , and it has never steered me wrong.  I just love a groomed brow.  Too Faced was pretty popular Wed night as we discussed the Born This Way Concealer -  its that girl .  You can use this as a foundation to be quite honest the pay off is that great and it dries down matte - which is nice. There is a nice color range so everyone will find a shade.  Then we discussed luxury lip products .  I highly recommend YSL Beauty Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain  . This lip stain is beautiful , not only aesthetically , but it wears really well.  I've used this on my clients many times.  I love to mix the colors to make custom shades.

B.A.G.S ( Beauty and Grooming Safe-Space) Presents : #MCM Mens Grooming V-Day Edition 2-8-21

This week's MCM was really special since the topic of the night was Valentines Day routines . It was pretty interesting to hear from a Man's perspective how he tackles getting ready for a big event.  

The most common theme that was repeated by different men during the night was beard care.  The majority of responses were that the main focus will be their beards this weekend.  

The second top rated item was cologne. After the year we had hardly dressing up and going out ,  a lot of men are actually excited to get themselves together and whip out that expensive cologne to wear even if its for a date night at home.  

Besides that ,  everyone is keeping the same routine.  

A great tip I mentioned to consider to add to the prep process to use a sheet mask while getting ready , and if its a couple that lives together why not make it a couples mask night prep. 

Masks with Hyaluronic Acid  are always a good choice.
