House of Field Madness in the City !!!

It would not be a Sex and The City event without a "cocktail" in hand !!! This one is called Glamour Gal - which was sooooo good! The limited edition Patricia Field Skyy Vodka Bottles are tres chic !!!!

Last night Redken created the hair styles while Vincent Longo were the force behind the beauty looks for the launch of Sex and the City 2’s costume designer Patricia Field’s House of Field Eyewear, Swimwear and Beach Towels in NYC.

Hair : Lead by Rodney Cutler for Cutler/Redken

To complement the ultra stylish and super glam looks designed by the queen of costume designing herself along with David Dalrymple, Rodney Cutler for Cutler/Redken pushed the envelope in hair styling as he created the perfect youthful fishtail-ed updo to play on Patricia’s eye for sophisticated fashion: “The high fishtail braid is a fun evening looking and very wearable. We've seen so many buns up top and this is just taking it one step further," explained Cutler. When we asked him how can this look be translated to ready to wear, he said simply " It can be worn as is, without any alterations as long as the woman is edgy enough to pull this look off" - Which we all are!!!!

To create the look, Rodney prepped hair by applying Redken align 12 protective straightening lotion and blow-dryed through with a medium brush. Next, he tightly gathered into a high ponytail on the very top of the head, about three inches from the hair line and secured with an elastic. He then took a small piece of hair and wrapped around the elastic and secured with a bobby pin. Next, a fish-tail braid* was weaved down to the end of the hair and pinned in upon itself right at the hairline. The look was finished with Redken vinyl glam 02 mega shine spray for shine and Redken forceful 23 super strength finishing spray for extra strong hold for a look that undeniably shouted “Hello Lover” on the runway!

Follow these tips to create the edgy-glam fishtail at home !!!

1) Split the hair to be braided into two equal sections

2) Pull a small strand of hair from the left section and add it to the right section

3) Then, pull a small strand of hair from the right section and add it to the left

4) That will create a small X

5) Repeat until all the hair is used

6) Secure with a clear plastic band

Carlos ( who was so SWEET by the way) , the nephew of the legendary Vincent Longo explained the inspiration for last nights show as this "80's , Structure, think BOLD BOLD BOLD ! with elongated Cat eyes, tons of Blush channeling the Dynasty Days. Bright Red, Coral and Fuchsia Lips " His tip to the everyday woman was to not be afraid to make a statement in regards to your beauty routine, and that this look can easily be translated for everyday wear with the bright lips translated into a translucent red or violet lip and the elongated Cat eyes to the classic iconic smokey eye. All the colors used on the models were from the Spring /Summer 2010 collection with the main attraction being Thinstick Lispticks in "London" and "Priscilla" which looked great on the models.

Maximize Summer with Maxi Dresses

On the eve of summer , one must start preparing their season wardrobe. One summer staple that reappears every year is Maxi Dresses. Perfect for day (like those spent on the beach or on a yacht) or night (that rooftop party), maxi dresses are sure to please. A cut that has been slated to be one of the most comfortable, flatters just about everyone. Perfect for those self conscious about their legs, its the perfect way to hide your flaws, yet remaining confident while showcasing your more flattering areas. Pretty in prints or solids, I think for summer why not go for brighter hues and vivid prints. Solids are still nice , for going subtle - like the dress pictured above, can be played up with a sleek ponytail and hoop earrings, and you go from 0 to 20. Electric prints like the two dresses pictured above - are my perfect for summer. Bright hues combined with vivid intensifying prints are the perfect anecdote to a sun-kissed tan complexion. Bright colors are great on darker skin , and since we all are a shade or two darker than usual during those summer days, why not play it up with tons of color??? I love seeing maxi dresses with paired with beach waves ( a summer staple),and tons of long chains layers, and bangles as well. That adds a beachy-glam touch to these dresses that look great day or night.

Party Chic for Cheap

In this circus of an economy, how does the modern day Frugalista stay fabulous ???? She is on a strict budget!!! That means its all about Steals and Deals, waiting for those platform pumps to go on sale, and when it comes to her budding social life , its all about cheap party dresses. There is no rule etched in stone that expensive is the only way to go. I also find it more of a challenge when shopping on a budget, and not only finding that perfect dress, but making that dress look like its worth hundreds of dollars yet you only paid 45 dollars!!!! This two tone dress (above) with the prints / solid combination is very fun, with the right hair/make-up and accessories - it can totally pass for something out of a boutique. The black pencil dress is very elegant, black has that ever so chic effect - that's why the LBD (little black dress) is always a good choice when shopping on a budget. Whether the LBD is $200 or $20, you can bring up the luxury factor. Last but not least for my favorite dresses on a budget series of favorite looks is this white sheath dress (pictured, middle)- it screams vacation, and it has a clean crisp look, no one would know this dress retails for under $100. With that said, there you have it, party dresses for the Frugalista!

Mighty Fine doing it BIG once again in the name of SATC !!!!!

Just in time for Sex and the City 2 ( in theaters later on this month - I just LOVE the Chanel glasses pictured in the promo ad above :) ) , Mighty Fine has re-launched their infamous Sex and the City tee shirts again!!!!
