I met LORAC Artist Dana Beil during Spring 2010 Fashion week at the Haute Look Lounge, in the short meeting with her she gave me a illuminating transformation with just a hint of Bronzer and a touch of blush. I'm so happy that Dana took some time out of her jet-setting schedule to answer some questions. Enjoy!!!
Deesse Magazine : You're a regional artist, how would you describe the typical L.A. look versus New York? Which look do you like more?
Dana Beil : I’m a Regional Artist yes, but I spend most of my time in the Northeast and Southeast parts of the Country. But in answer to your question, I would say that the LA look is a little more laid back, a little bronzer here, a little lipgloss there…where as I feel like the typical NY look is a little more “done up” with everything from a Primer down to liquid eyeliner, and everything in between. I can say that in the Southeast they do LOVE their bronzer! Tantalizer is especially popular there in the Summer. I don’t think I especially prefer one look over another myself, I think I change it up with the season. In the Summer, when I’m a bit tanner, I wear less, while come Fall and Winter I’m definitely a little more done up all the time.
DM: LORAC is the self-proclaimed "Red Carpet Authority" , with tons of celebrities on the list of fans. Which product from the new collection do you predict will be all over the Hollywood?
DB: I can’t just pick one…it’s too hard, so let me name a few- I am absolutely in love with our Front of the Line Pro Liquid Eyeliners. This pen is incredible with a brush tip, the application is flawless and precise and it dries within seconds and doesn’t budge! I also live for our new Red Carpet Reveal palette, which is absolutely the most perfect colors for day or night. I take it everywhere with me- and just to be even more convienient there’s a mirror and a brush! I think our new Breakthrough Performance lipsticks(below) are going to do really well also- the formula is incredible including being Paraben free, with SPF 15 and Anti-aging benefits, and the colors are gorgeous! For the Holiday season, I really think our new Double Booked Palette (below) is going to be a hit! 16 shadows, 2 blushes, 2 lipglosses, 1 highlighter, 1 bronzer, a double sided brush and a lipliner- with a fabulous little leather travel case…and all for $55! It doesn’t get better than that!

DM: When we met you had a old-hollywood look , which was flawless - is that your signature look?
DB: I guess that is my signature lately… when it comes down to it, I am obsessed with Black liquid liner- it’s my absolute favorite thing! And ever since we came out with our new red lipstick Leading Lady(pictured, below), I’ve fallen in love with wearing red lipstick, especially because it doesn’t move at all- and for a red lipstick, that is hard to find! But mostly, I find that this look is clean, but beautiful and doesn’t take a lot of time to do (but looks like it does!).

Working as a professional Makeup Artist for the last 7 years, Dana has gained invaluable experience within the many facets of the Cosmetic world. Starting out by helping out in college with makeup for the stage shows she was performing in, slowly but surely she graduated to working for several highly respected Artistry lines including MAC, stila, and she currently holds a Regional Artist title with LORAC Cosmetics, Inc. She has had the privilege of working with some of the most respected names in the industry such as Jeanine Lobell (Creator of stila Cosmetics), Carol Shaw (owner and creator of Lorac Cosmetics), and has had the opportunity train and work creatively while being sent abroad to the UK and Ireland, as well as nationally around the United States. Her work has been seen in publications such as Pulp, Bakersfield Life and WWD Magic, and is soon to be seen in the first printed edition of Push It Magazine.
